Delta Captures U17 Division II Title

Delta Hockey Academy has captured their second title of the 2025 Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) Western Championships, winning the U17 Division II.

Delta came into the Division II Championships as the two seed going a perfect 4-0 in the round robin. BWC Academy was ranked third and went 3-1 in the round robin, with their lone loss coming at the hands of Delta.

Each team won three games head-to-head during the regular season, with Delta winning the lone Championships matchup to give them a 4-3 series advantage heading into the finals.

Jack Traince opened the scoring for Delta 5:06 into the first with his second goal of these Championships. Jacob Napoleon would even the score just 38 seconds later with his third goal in five games.

The two teams started the second period tied 1-1 until Lincoln Arkinstall scored on the power play 2:55 into the period. Delta would outshoot BWC Academy 13-8 in the second, holding their one goal lead.

BWC Academy would flip the script in the third as they outshot Delta 14-6 and got a game tying goal with 4:19 left as Kijin Cho buried a rebound to send the game to overtime.

In overtime, a BWC Academy penalty would give Delta a power play opportunity to win the game. Delta would take full advantage as an Arkinstall shot bounced off Ewan Torrance and past Liam Kellett (29/32) into the open cage to give Delta the 3-2 win.

Lynden Mercier (29/31) made 29 saves for the win.

With the win, Delta captured their second title of these playoffs, and ninth ever.
